"Here’s the kicker"
I am 76 years old, gay, and have been living with HIV for over 30 years. I have been through a lot in my life, and the years have left their mark – not just physically, but also emotionally. I used to be an active part of the gay community, but in recent years, I have often withdrawn. The energy was lacking, everyday life became more complicated, and I sometimes felt quite lost. But then Andreas came into my life – and that changed everything.Andreas visits me every week, always with an open ear and a smile on his face. We then sit in my small apartment, drink coffee, and talk about everything that concerns us – sometimes serious topics, sometimes just nonsense. Andreas has the ability to make every encounter light and pleasant. But he doesn't just help me with emotional support. Especially all the billing with the insurance, which always gave me headaches, he takes care of for me. I have no idea how he does it, but he always keeps track and ensures that everything is processed correctly. That takes so much stress off me and gives me the feeling of having control over my life again.

"So much I still have to look forward to"
But the best is yet to come: once a month we do something special – cinema, theatre or a nice café. These excursions are like a little highlight for me. In the past, I wouldn't have brought myself to go out alone, but Andreas got me out again. It feels so good to just get out, enjoy culture and let myself be pampered a little. These hours are so valuable because I feel that I am not alone and that I am still a part of the world out there. What I particularly appreciate about Andreas is that he accepts me exactly as I am. There are no prejudices, no fear of contact – he understands my situation, both as an older gay man and as someone living with HIV. That is rare. This acceptance and the feeling of being understood are indescribably valuable.Andreas not only brings order into my everyday life, he also brings warmth and joy back into my life. Thanks to him, I feel that even at my age I still have something to experience, that there is still so much to look forward to. For that, I am more than grateful to him.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our services.
01
How do you ensure HIV sensitivity – and what does that mean for discretion in everyday life?
HIV-sensitive means: no stigma, no hasty assumptions, no transgressions. We treat health information confidentially and discuss with you what is relevant (e.g., appointments, documents, medication organization – only if you want that). Discretion is also practical: no conversations in the hallway, no visible hints in documents, no sharing with third parties. This way, your privacy remains protected, and you don't have to "watch out" for what becomes incidentally visible in everyday life.
02
What organizational help is realistic with insurance, billing, and mail – and how do you stay in control?
We can help you organize documents, pre-sort letters, structure to-dos, and support you with filling out/understanding. Important: You remain able to make decisions. We will explain to you in an understandable way what a letter means, what deadlines apply, and what next steps make sense. If you wish, we can set up a simple system (folder/binder, fixed filing, monthly routine) so that you have less stress in the long term and don't have to solve everything "all at once."
03
How does accompaniment to doctors or authorities work – and what if you have had bad experiences?
Accompaniment means: You don't go alone, and you don't have to manage everything at once. First, we clarify what you need: just being present, taking notes, reminding of deadlines, or maintaining conversation structure. If you have experienced discrimination, you can briefly state it – then we pay special attention to respectful communication and clear boundaries. The goal is an appointment after which you know what has been decided and what happens next, without feeling overwhelmed.
04
What services can the long-term care insurance typically cover – and what evidence is important for this?
If a care level exists, services such as relief services according to §45a SGB XI, relief amount, or substitute care may be relevant depending on the situation. Crucial factors are budget status, type of service, and clean documentation (date, duration, type of support). We can clarify with you which service best suits your specific needs and what you need to provide to the care insurance fund for it. This way, you reduce queries and avoid having to pay for services privately, even though budgets would be available.
